Born on December 8, 1984, Sam Hunt, full name Sam Lowry Hunt is an American country music, songwriter, singer and former football player in the college. He grew up in Cedartown, Georgia where he began playing football during his time in high school and years.
He won Co-Offensive Player of the Year and got selected for the all purpose player. While playing as a quarterback for two years, he majored in philosophy and graduated with Business in Economics degree.
It was when he got injured in the 2006 season, he learned to play acoustic guitar by himself. However, he left the football career to pursue music after being unsuccessful in impressing the club. After that, he co-wrote Kenny Chesney’s “Come Over” that got him an ASCAP award. Then he independently released “Raised on It” in 2013, followed by releasing via his website mixtape consisting 12 free songs. He also released two singles in 2014.
In 2014, he signed a recording contract with MCA Nashville. The same year, he released X2C with four songs EP which was his debut studio album. It peaked at number 36 on the Billboard 200 and 5 on the Billboard Top Country Album. Right on the first week, it sold 8,000 copies.
His first single “Leave the Night on” went o to become number 1 on the Country Airplay chart. The song was also certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Its video was nominated for Billboard Music Award and CMT Music Awards. However, it earned him Breakthrough Video of the Year.
Since the start of his musical career, he has been popular for both inside and outside the country music community. He incorporates R&B and pop into his songs.
