He played two years for California State University, Fresno. In 2008, he was ranked number 1 “Play of the Day” by SportsCenters. While going for his sophomore season, he was the known for being the most entertaining player in college basketball and the west region. In 2010 WAC Tournament, he scored 22 points and 11 rebounds though the team lost in the quarterfinals. He was named All-WAC Second-Team and ranked 2nd in WAC.

He began his professional basketball career after getting selected by the Pacers. He was 10th overall pick of the 2010 NBA draft. It earned him NBA All-Rookie Second Team Honors. Later in 2012, he was selected to compete in the Rising Stars Challenge and Slam Dunk Contest during 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend.

He played mostly as the shooting guard position in his first two seasons in NBA. On December, he was named NBA’s Player for the Week for the first time in his NBA career. The praise further arose after when he got named in the NBA Most Improved Player in 2013. The success escalated after when he got selected for first All-Star.

In 2014, while competing for a roster spot in the U.S. national team for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, he injured with a broken leg. Though he missed most of the season, but recovered to become an All-Star again in 2016.
