Professionally known as Joan Rivers, Joan Alexandra Molinsky was an American writer, television host, comedian, and actress. Born on June 8, 1933, Joan Rivers died on September 4, 2014. Rivers came to limelight as a guest on the Tonight Show.
In 1986, she became the first woman to host late night talk show with the show, The Late Show with Joan Rivers.
Born to the Russian Jewish parents, she grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree from Barnard College. In the 1950s, she appeared in short play, Driftwood, and later performed in many comedy clubs. Later she appeared on The Tonight Show for the first time.
In 1970’s, she appeared on a number of television comedy shows. In 1973, she wrote The Girl Most Likely to, a black comedy TV movie.

In 2004, she became one of four Americans to be the part of the Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince of Wales wedding ceremony. She also performed in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in Liverpool Empire Theatre.
